Solve : Help! Memory Problem!?

Answer»

Hey. I just purchased a stick of 512 mb DDR 3200 RAM from the local computer store. However, when I went to stick the ram into my computer, it makes a beeping noise. I figured it was just in wrong, however I took it out, REPLACED it with my other strip, and it was fine. I did this in all the positions with my other ram, including putting the newly purchased ram in the sockets. So, basically, it was fine if I had 2 strips of 512mb DDR 3200 ram in, but wouldn't work with 3.

If you have a solution to this problem, please respond. (With this Ram, I should have 1.5gb ram. But only 1g works)

TyGo to www.crucial.com and see what you should have gotten for that particular machine and compare to what you did get. Also consult the manufacturer's web site to see what type of memory and configuration are supported on that motherboard. you didn' give any information regarding this, and Miss Cleo is off on Mondays.

Though crucial may not be the cheapest, it is GUARANTEED compatible, has a lifetime warranty, reasonable prices and prompt shipping. Did you get that? http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Giga-Byte%2B+Motherboards&mfr=Giga-Byte&tabid=AM&model=GA-K8NSC-939&submit=Go

Hmm, It says it should be able to hold as much RAM as there is slots, but still, whenever it LOADS with 1.5g, it beeps and the screen wont load.

I don't see that on the crucial site at all, but I do see various CL and voltages listed, so either you have an incompatibility there, or you have to install it in pairs (you do for DDR FUNCTION on Intel chips).

What are the specifics of the chip you bought and what you had? Did you check the motherboard manual?
