I recently had a worm or virus which crashed my computer. When starting it said corrupt command.com etc.
I was using windows XP.

Anyway i tried a few things and then did a fixboot in the recovery CONSOLE.

Now when i try dir in the c:\ i only see the folder windows no remaining space and 15Gb total, when my hard drive is 35 Gb.

When i try installing the old windows 98 it says not ENOUGH space left.

Have i lost all my data or has it been PARTITIONED?

If later how can I get it back. I now have an external hard disk where i can transfer all the data too. All i want is to get the data off then i can format.

Anyone able to HELP?since you mentioned dir, I am assuming you can get to a command prompt? Quote

Unwise if the infection has not been removed.

You should either scan the entire Hard Disk Drive using a better secured computer or reformat all PARTITIONS.
