Answer» I do not have a clue about computers in general but I am going to buy a laptop/desktop computer in the coming month.
The set up in my house is that we have ONE computer downstairs which is where the netgear router and wireless access points are. We also have connections running to another, more powerful computer upstairs (through a hole in the WALL) and my PS3 through the wireless access point.
My questions are: 1) Will the wireless access point (Linksys Wireless-G Access Point Model WAP54G) be able to connect with my PS3 AND my computer? 2) Will the wireless access point be able to connect to a desktop computer or is it only laptops? 3) Would I be able to use two wireless access points off the same netgear router?
Thanks a lot in advance and I hope you can HELP. =)1: No real limit to how many devices can connect to an AP 2: A wireless G AP can connect to any device with a Wireless G Nic 3. You should have no PROBLEM connecting to APs to your router, provided you have enough ports.Sorry to be a n00b but what is a wireless G nic and can desktop computers have them?
Thanks for your help btw. Wireless G is a fairly new standard that manuf. have adopted for wireless devices...
NIC stands for a Network Interface Card which you have...Most desktops don't COME with wireless nics, but they can be added either via PCI or USB.
