Solve : HELP!! Seriously messed up disassembling :(?

Answer»

Hi guys, I've really stuffed up this time...

I am (or was) trying to clean the inside of my DV6 because my fans were getting noisy and the laptop was getting HOT. I got down to the STAGE of disconnecting the power jack from the motherboard when unfortunately, my lack of dexterity made me mess up.

3 of the 6 different colored wires connecting to the power jack on my motherboard were pinched by the pliers I was using. It somehow managed to strip of some of the insulation for the wires. Is there anything I can do so that I don't have to take this computer somewhere to repair?

PLEASE, I'm freaking out right now. My parents would be less than happy with me announcing that I've stuffed my laptop's internals.

It's a HP Pavilion DV6-1128TX, with an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400.

Thanks in advance!!

Edit: The wires are too small to even cover with electrical tape. (whether that was even a good idea I'm not sure)Get a small tube of clear silicone sealant, squeeze a small amount onto the affected area, spread it around with a TOOTHPICK, LET it cure. Make sure it's not a big blob, so it will go back together. Good as new.I owe you $300...

Thanks! Now it's back together and working.Way to go Computer_Commando. Saved Dairyman $300.00. That is what I am talking about. Quote from: Dairyman on December 22, 2011, 04:18:02 PM
