Solve : help trying to build a computer?

Answer»

I was trying to practice building a computer from spare/ and junk parts. It's been since 2006 since I've built a computer. I wanted to build a computer as a hobby.

I found a:

HL data storeage gcc-4482b CD/DVD drive
turbolink lc-a350 atx power suply
ribbon cables of different sizes.

I can go and get some floppy drives too if I want them. I'm not sure if the power supply works but I think the CD/DVD drive does.
I was going to build a low in computer and run Linux or something. So I went out to a thrift store to buy memory, HD, MOTHERBOARD, eltc.
they didn't want to sell their 512 ram. He said that the person who refurbishes their PCs was running out ( I'm sure that paints a picture of what kind of place I was in). They couldn't sell me HDs cause they weren't wiped yet, they couldn't find their CPUs, I didn't want to buy their power 500W supply.

Anyway I bough a 10$ motherboard that was wrapped in a plastic BAG that said acer, didn't get the bag with it and rode home with it in my bikes basket thinking it was some cheap MB from like 2008.

It turned out to be a tbgm01 -1.0-8EKS3H that comes from a Gateway FX 6800-01e. I didn't get the CPU and it says it takes a core i7.
That's TWO expensive can it TAKE like a core i3 or i4?
I wasn't planning on making a gaming computer can I use a cheap graphics card? What kind of power supply should I be LOOKING for.

lastly should I go back to the thrift store looking for the CPU before they figure out what they sold me? nevermind I manged to get some questions answered by people who mod computers.
