Answer» Hi, Two days ago, I started getting the "Windows Security Alert -- application cannot be executed" virus/malware on my home computer. I tried running spyware/malware removal programs, but the problem still exists, and it is preventing me from starting any Windows applications or connecting to the Internet. I've followed the steps in your forum and am attaching the 3 logs requested, although all 3 programs indicated that no infected files were found (I had actually run MBAM and SuperAntiSpyware previously and they did find a few infected files, which I removed, but that didn't seem to help. I do have McAfee Security Center running, and it has Real-Time SCanning turned ON, Updates CURRENT, and Firewall ON. I ran a scan with that also, but it detected no infected files either.....I hope you can help!
Here are the three logs -- I hope they provide something useful....

Thanks for any help!!!! Scott R. I ended up doing a Windows Restore, and that got rid of the virus.....I seriously doubt that you got rid of all your problems by doing a System Restore but if you're happy, I'm happy. Can a system restore get rid of the virus? Or would it better to use an antivirus software?Quote from: arion27 on November 01, 2010, 07:47:09 AM Can a system restore get rid of the virus? Or would it better to use an antivirus software?
System Restore will not cure infections. In fact, some malware are also installed in System Restore just waiting to be RESURRECTED by the user hitting System Restore. If you go on-line without a good, up-to-date Anti-virus program you're really looking for trouble.
