Answer» Can a Dell computer use a non Dell modem? Thanks!I DONT see why not but hold up somebody will be along to confirm or advise other wise All COMPUTERS (expect macs) run of a programme called windows. It doesn't matter what make it is, they all can do things like plug none company things in them. (like a fridge, no matter what fridge you bye, they all do the same thing).
Hope this helps. (you can now sell your dell monitor ((which I wouldn't if I was you, dell make good monitors)) and dell keyboard, and dell mouse with pad, which I bet you bought, and get none dell products, just cause you can) Dells are compatible with any PCI card and any USB DEVICE. If you want to change the power supply you might have to get a CONVERTER for the ATX power connector. My old one (Dell XPS R450) the power supply’s ATX connector had the same format but he wires were different so only a Dell would work. I latter found a Dell replacement and took the old one and installed it in to a standard ATX motherboard. The power supply literally BLEW up in my face.Any peripheral will work fine, like a modem, a CD burner, etc. The basic components - motherboard and power supply are NOT interchangeable due to Dell specific wiring or configuration. If you put a non-Dell motherboard is a standard ATX case the PCI slots will not line up with the slots in the case, etc. There are a few rare exceptions, but motherboards/cases/power supplies should be Dell replacements of the same model.
