Answer» I am trying to install a CD ROM drive and a Hard drive into an old PC... I can hook the 2 peripherals up separately fine, but when I put them together, it doesnt recognize the CD ROM drive... I have changed the JUMPERS, to no avail.. Any help would be appreciated!Pls type your PC specification. You said you changed jumper, but can you type CD-ROM & HDD jumpers position. Also check your cable.Sometimes the older machines will have compatibility issues with hardware. If you've changed the jumpers on both machines (one is MASTER, the other slave) and it still doesn't work, other than changing a cable , then it would seem like you're out of luck.
Alan <>< The Specs are pretty much:
PC: It's a built computer, not a specific brand Motherboard: Abit-VH6 CD ROM Drive: LG GCE-8527B Hard Drive: It is a 40gb Seagate OS: Windows 2000 if I could ever get it to work...Do you have only one IDE CHANNEL on this board ? ? If you have 2 i would suggest hooking up the HDD on IDE1 and the CDROM on IDE2. Seperate cables...seperate channels.
Visit the MBoard manuf. website for clarification...dbsnipe .......... Just looked at your board and it has 2 ide channels....... So put the hard drive on IDE 0 ........ set jumpers as primary master , and put the optical drive on IDE 1 ....... and set the jumper as secondary master
