1.	Solve : Here's one for ya...?
Answer» Seagate 160G drive in an Acer Aspire T650 with XP Home fresh install. When I run the Seagate tool to test the drive it will run the LONG scan OK. When I run the short scan it locks up @ 60%. I exit the program reboot and neither the BIOS nor the program sees the drive. I disconnect power to the system / reconnect & power up and bingo...drive is back but still fails the short test. I've swapped controller ports and data cable / don't have any PSU to try as they are on order as well as hard drives. Ok, I've just tried running the long test again and it "passes" running only 1 or 2 seconds. What do you think? HDD, controller, PSU? Alan <>< My money's on the hdd.
