Answer» Hello, seems to get higher when the processor works harder that makes me suspect the CPU fan. is this an aftermarket CPU heatsink or is it a stock heatsink?Yeah a fan with a broken bearing would be a very likely candidate for that kind of noise.To determine which fan it is you can press gently on the center of the fan with the eraser end of a pencil to see if the whining stops. Don't stop it for any great length of time. If you are careful replacing the fan is something you can do yourself. You'll need a set of jewelers screwdrivers Phillips head. Once removed take it to a computer store and use it to match up a replacement fan. As always when working inside the case remove all power sources and take anti-static precautions... |
