On Friday night I opened my Toshiba Tecra 8100's lid and heard a "SNAP", and pieces of metal started falling out of the bottom left-hand corner of the display, and the screen went completely limp. Taking off the bezel revealed that the left hinge clutch is destroyed.   The right hinge has been broken since I GOT the computer, so I assume that the left hinge gave out from supporting the entire screen by itself. But the right hinge has no visible damage :-?

So I was wondering if you guys could help me find the CORRECT hinges so I can order them and replace them. The computer isn't very useful right now being I have to prop the screen up :-/

It has a 14.1" screen and the part number of the computer is PT810U-11953

This was a problem waiting to happen... but couldn't it have held off just a little longer? Closer examination revealed that where the hinge screws into the display it broke in half too. No wonder the screen felt like it was falling off on that side. Thanks!

-JohnSounds like you might need some SuperGlue as well as a new hinge. I was a little vauge about that haha. The actual hinge broke in half where it attaches to the screen.
