Solve : home network not working? |
|
Answer» i have a home NETWORK of 4 computers, INCLUDING a server, and a router that worked until recently. the router's adapter cracked and stopped working alltogether. so now, until i can buy a new adapter, i thought i'd make a direct connection from the server to one of the computers for internet traffic. the server's an xp professional second edition, and the other computer is a windows 98. well, i TOOK the cable that ran up to the router from the server and i put it in my second computer. my xp system says that the network cable is unplugged and none of the network cards has any blinking lights, to show that they are connected. so, what could be wrong? could my router's adapter's malfunction have fried my cards? are there different utp CABLES for computer to computer links? help is higly appreciated. You need a crossover cable for computer to computer links. Same plugs wired DIFFERENTLY. |
