I'm a total newb to this.  I have a hp pc w/ WIN xp and an old hp pc w/ win 98 i believe.  Is it possible to hook up both of these computers?  I want to use the old pc as additional space or whatever.  ThanksSure, you need to setup a home network.

dl65  Total newb I apologize.  Do your suggestions apply to this, what i wanna do is use 1 monitor, then use the 2 towers that i have.  If you want to be able to store files on each that are accessible to the other then yes.
If you just want one monitor, one keyboard, one mouse and not share files then no.

To use one monitor, keyboard, and mouse you need a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch and 2 sets of KVM cables.  You local computer store will have this stuff.  (You might be a bit surprised at how much one of those cables is THOUGH).

If you want both shared files and hardware then you need both, the home network and the KVM switch.
