Solve : Hoping for Video Card help?

Answer»

Hullo to all, I would be grateful for any help here!
I have an ABIT IC7 max3 mobo with an agp graphics slot, 3GB ram, a 650w psu, PENTIUM dual core 3.2gh cpu running windows xp pro sp3, loads of HD space and i am trying to get a Radeon 3850 graphics card to work. trouble is I can't get the system to recognise the card (keeps saying not correct drivers, but i loaded them from the install disk).
If I PERSEVERE I get notified that the puter doesn't recognise the hardware.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? Does it make any difference that the AGP aperture in the BIOS cannot be set higher than 256? (Clutching at straws here )

tia Try going to ATI web site & download the correct driver from there Dis able your old card in device managerThanks for the reply, but, as I was instructed to do in the bumf, I uninstalled all ATI drivers etc before installing the card, then re-installed from the CD provided AND used the 'update' function to search for any new drivers. Still no joy. What OS are you running?Have you gone into bios and set your settings to default or best known config?Running XP sp3, all updates. No, haven't tried setting it to best known settings. I'll give it a try....
It's a pain, cos I have to keep taking the bloody thing out & putting my old one back each time I try SOMETHING Try installing the driver with any virus and spy ware you have disabledWhen you have the new card installed in its slot and you turn on the system do you get a display at your monitor. If not i think you have a bad cardNo, I get a display but it won't go above the lowest settings/resolution. Tried loading drivers in safe mode as well with the AV turned off. i would call ati support and explain your PBLM. check backQuote from: xavier on July 29, 2008, 09:43:26 AM

Thanks.. OK, did this and (in the end) Iwas directed to a hotfix, which I have installed. Now, when I go into Device Manager, it knows the card is there but says 'insufficient resources' but I don't know what to change... I looked in 'resources by type' view, and nothing has EXACTLY the same address as the card.
