Solve : How full should you have with a hard drive??

I have three computers all with 30 GB hard drives.  Two desk top, one lap top.  What would be the max that you would want to fill up the hard drive before if could mess with the computer operation?

So for a 30 G HDD it should be a minimum of about 5 or 6 G....

And then you could have your old 30GB HDD as a backup SLAVE drive for some extra just-in-case space.Thanks,  I am thinking about the upgrade to an external so that it can be SHARED between the 3 computers.  Our local Circuit City has a Western Digitial 500G on sale now.  

I was asking wondering how much I MIGHT move over to the external.
