Solve : How much RAM is enough ????

Answer»

Last week a friend told me that if I add more RAM my computer will run better\faster.
Is there a way to find out how much RAM is enough
My specs. are displayed to the left...But I`ll give the important stuff anyway:E7300 Intell 2.66 Ghz 2 Core-Duo(Dual-core) processor and 3072Mb ram (DRAM freq.333.4 Mhz)...
Is it TRUE what he says Is there a site\program that can help (Or a smart guy\girl!!!).....

All the best;Eric......3 gigs should be plenty. If you have Vista 32 bit, it will only show/use a little more than 3 gigs anyway so adding more wouldn't help much. If it is 64 bit Vista, you can add more and you may see a small increase in performance, but it really depends on what programs you use.

For most users, 3 gigs is more than enough for Vista.Hello,

In your specs you talk about Memory and Physical Memory, which are 3069 and 1024 MB respectively. Generally RAM is referred to as Physical Memory. For Vista 2+ GB is recommended (but you may need more, depends on what applications you run), further depending on your architecture.Note that 32-bit Operating SYSTEMS cannot see more than 4GB or RAM.Bottom line - if you are having any ISSUES, they are NOT RELATED to ram. What specific problems, if any, are you experiencing?I have a home-studio....A M-Audio 2626 soundcard and Pro-Tools...
Pro-Tools by itself is a quite hefty program. When I run this(P-T is a D.A.W.,a software-studio...I have the feeling you allready know this),and I run a soft-synth like Omnisphere and some plug-ins(Echo,limiters ect ect) my processor runs at +90%.Everybody is telling me to buy a Apple(A good one) but nobody can tell me WHY the Apple is so much better.....I do see,in other studios there are a lot of Apple-computers...
THIS is the reason I want to "beef-up" my computer....Or maybe buy a new one...(But the good Apples are EXPENSIVE !!!)............
Thank you for the quick reply...............Greetings from Holland:Eric............
