Answer» Hi,
My sister-in-law who we visit in the city (100 miles away) has a DESKTOP computer with XP and is connected via a LAN high speed internet cable.
I have a HP netbook which I take with us when we travel and am wondering if there is a way to connect to my sister-in-law's LAN cable so both computers can be used at the same time. She doesn't have a router. Can both computers be connected directly to the LAN cable with a splitter or must it be done another way?
Any help would, as in other times, be greatly appreciated...
Many THANKS, SampYour going to have to get a router to make this work. The good news is that they are pretty cheap now.
New ROUTERS can be expensive. On eBay I have found new brand name wireless router for less that $25. I bought one and works really good. It seems to be a model that awns overstocked and people did not LIKE it because of the features and brand name. But it works PERFECT and a simple router.
Of course, buying one locally may be a better choice. If you don't like it, they will take it back., Maybe. Expect to pay about $80 at a retail store.
Oops. I was wrong! Actuality it is now cheaper at Wall-Mart! Belkin Wireless-G Broadband Router $17.00
