Solve : How to Delete ITEMS from My Computer?

Answer»

Hi,
The following Items are displayed on 'My Computer'

Files Stored on this computer
   Shared DOCUMENTS
   User's Documents

Hard Disk Drives
   IBM_PRELOADED

Devices with Removal Storage
   CD Drive
   USB Flash Memory
Other
   My Sharing Folders
   Nokia Phone ....

How to remove the Items displayed under 'Other'?  By the 'Right CLICK' on these items it displays 'Open' and 'Explore' only. How to delete 'Nokia Phone ..'?

I'm not sure if I understand your meaning but here is a great program which can unlock and folder/FILE and delete it:

Hi,
Thank you very much for your reply. In FACT, these are NOT Locked folders. These are some thing extra on 'My Computer'. Once I installed 'Nokia PC Suite'. It was created at that time. Now NEITHER  'Nockia.. Program' is being REMOVED (through  add / remove) NOR these Items from 'My Computer'. So you've removed the Nokia PC Suite??Does the phone show up in device manager? Delete it from there. To open device manager go to start>control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager. Quote from: Soviet Genius on August 01, 2008, 10:37:00 AM

Windows Live Messenger installs a link called "My Sharing Folders" in My Computer. It is possible to remove this link.
Steps

   1. Open your registry editor
   2. Remove " {FC9FB64A-1EB2-4CCF-AF5E-1A497A9B5C2D} " registry key located at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\
   3. Close your registry editor

Method 2 - Using the Registry Editor

Click Start, Run. Type regedit.exe and press {ENTER}

Navigate to the following branch:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ MyComputer \ NameSpace

Right-click on the subkey {416651E4-9C3C-11D9-8BDE-F66BAD1E3F3A} and choose Export

Type nokiaphonebrowser.reg as the file name, and click OK to backup the branch

Then right-click {416651E4-9C3C-11D9-8BDE-F66BAD1E3F3A} and choose Delete.

Click Yes when prompted for confirmation.

Exit the Registry Editor.

Nokia Phone Browser entry should no longer exist when you open My Computer. You can still access the Phone Browser feature by launching Nokia PC Suite application. If you want to undo the above edit, simply double-click the nokiaphonebrowser.reg file that you created
