Answer» I have a Windows XP machine with hundreds of MP3s and streaming XM radio via the web. I have some outdoor speakers by the pool and want to use my pc as a media center to play to the outdoor speakers (CDs, MP3s streaming internet radio, etc). Problem is how do I do this? Cannot find a way to play from my PC to these regular home stereo speakers.
My ideal solution would be a CARD for the PC that amplifies the sound and has regular stereo speaker connections.
I tried hooking up my sound card to my home stereo AMP with a minijack to dual RCA cable and it sounded LIKE crap!
I also found some devices that you can use a hme network to listen to media from your PC on your TV/Stereo, but this would not ALLOW the streaming radio on the web, specifically XM radio.
Any Ideas?I just did this a few months ago and it worked AWESOME, using the same setup that you say didn't work for you - minijack to dual RCA's. Your problem may be elsewhere. What was the problem with the sound when you did this?Found the issue. I plugged the RCA connectors into my Phono input, that was bad! I moved to the CD input and BAM, now I am rockin. Thanks.
