Answer» I have an HP 1600C new out of the box printer and have it connected to my COMPUTER with a parallel printer cable on LPT-1. I'm using Win XP Pro and the Windows printer driver as instructed by the HP web site. I have only a black ink cartridge installed - no color cartridges. Problem is when I print a test page using the buttons on the printer it prints out fine. However when I try to print anything from the computer it isn't "seeing" the printer. Printer is SHOWN as the default printer in control PANEL and drivers indicate normal. First question is: are the color cartridges required for this printer to operate properly? Second question is: If not, are there any solutions to this? ThanksSo it won't print anything at all? That's STRANGE.
