Answer» Is it common for a parallel port to go bad,I have tried a new PRINTER cable and also a new POWER cord but get nothing.The computer will not respond to the printer.I would say it is within the realm of POSSIBILITY but there MIGHT be other reasons why the printer isn't working... What version of Windows is installed on the computer? When did the printer stop working? Did you change anything on the computer at that time? Can you try and connect the printer to another computer?I am running xp and the printer would run after I pulled the power cord and reattached it.But if you let it set for a few minutes it would just quit.now nothing.I have not tried another computerI would try another computer if it was me. From what you've POSTED here I'm guessing the problem is the printer not the printer port.
