Solve : hp compaq 6535b power cord/charging issues? |
|
Answer» i have an hp compaq 6535b and i'm having power cord/charging issues. i initially THOUGHT that it was just a power cord issue but i BORROWED an iGo universal power cord from a co-worker and for a few days it worked with no problems. Now i have to try repeatedly to unplug and plug in the cord to the computer and if i am lucky it will work for a bit. Just now I turned the computer upside down to check the model number and now it appears to be holding a charge and powering up (if the small yellow power light on the laptop is any indication.) I read on a Compaq Presario R3000 thread that that computer has similiar problems, however, it is not the power cord but rather the power plug needing to be resoldered to the motherboard. I also have had a bit of an electrical issue with the computer since the first month I got it. Immediately after I plug of unplug the power I cannot touch the computer mouse for about 10-15 seconds - if I do, it opens or resizes screens, flickers the screens, opens the start menu of does all of the above and occasionally freezes up. It also overheats and I use a cooling pad for it. I smoke in the house and have cats. So, what's the question? What do I do? Go and buy a new power cord? Ask to have the *censored* thing soldered? Where do I take it? What do I say? How much will it cost? There are REPAIR shops that specialize in REPLACING laptop power RECEPTACLES, if that's what's wrong. Laptops are usually not user serviceable, because everything is small and packaged tightly. |
