Answer» hi there, Today, I have BOUGHT a HP PSC 1215 all in one printer/scanner/copier. I had installed the drivers and software only to find that I couldn't find the USB lead to connect it to the computer...Looking on the side of the box, in teeny-tiny writing, I spotted:
Optional Accesory (please purchase seperately) HP USB cable (HP part no. C6518A)
OPTIONAL!?!?!? well, i may just as well use telepathy and save money, *censored*! anyway, I found a spare broadband-modem-to-computer USB cable and it fit perfectly, was the right shape and everything. But it didn't work. My question is: Is the printer broken, or should I fork out £4.64 excluding p&p and vat for the real Mcoy HP brand recommended usb lead because the other one didn't work? thanks1. Does the printer power on? 2. Where does it refuse to work? 3. Is it detected by Windows? It works fine, but it is not detected by windows and its like its not even connected. It probably isn'tTry the following:
1. Fully REMOVE drivers 2. Unplug HP Printer 3. Reset computer 4. Plug in HP Printer
See if Windows detects it.
Are you using Windows XP?http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Products.asp?CatID=5&Category=Cables&ThumbNails=Yes&FilterCategories=227&FilterManufacturers=&FilterMinPrice=&FilterMaxPrice=&FilterKeywords= decided to order part...after vat and p&p, came to £16.95 (?!?) so went to maplin instead...came back with brand new A to B male & male USB lead...works fine (all for only £2.50!) just goes to SHOW to shop around!
