Solve : hp PSC 1317 printer fault?

hi my hp PSC 1317 printer has developed a fault.>it seems to be dead,however when you PLUG it in the control PANAL lights flash on and off, then nothing!

Any advice would be great

thanks russUnplug it from the MACHINE
Remove the device from Device Manager.
Remove the software using Add/Remove Programs
Shut Down.
Re-boot and re-install the software and CONNECT the printer when the software prompts you for it.
