Solve : hum from soundcard to stereo?

Answer»

i have an audigy 2 sound card that im useing to transfer lp's to cpu to clean and burn this works fine      the PROBLEM is when i play wave's or cd's from the cpu to the STEREO (via mini jack to left and right rca's both directions) im getting a really annoying hum         i can play internet radio and it sounds great         ive looked into grounding issues  and even CHANGED cpu's and stereo's and the hum is still there   any suggestions would be great
thanksTake the turntable out of the loop for playback. This is the likely culprit.

patio.  already tried pulling turntable     no help    do i need to remove my stock sound card thats on the motherboard        if so how
thanksYes but take some precautions. Make sure the machine is completely unplugged from the POWER source.
Remove the side panel making sure you are properly grounded.
Remove the hold down screw on the top of the card tab.
Carefully pull the card STRAIGHT up towards you, it shouldn't take too much pressure..

Check the contacts on the sound card you can clean them gently with a pencil eraser.
Choose another slot to install it into...this could be part of the problem.
Insert it firmly making sure it is lined up properly it will only go in one way.
Remember to use the small screw that holds the sound card in place as this also serves as a ground.
Hook up your connections, plug in the power and boot up...
Hopefully you should be good to go.
