Answer»

I would be so thankful if you guys could help me with this one
i have a Dane-Elec So Ready 500gb external hard drive
and it worked few days ago but now when i PLUG it in to my pc it says it cant read it.
I have tons of family photos in this external hard drive and i would be so thankful if anyone could help me.

what shall i do now? i have tried to plug this into 2 different pc´s and it wont open.
what shall i do to grab EVERYONE on this hard drive?
I will probably throw this hard drive away once i got everything, because it is a old external hard drive.

any advice?? THANKS A MILLION!!How is it reported in Disk MANAGEMENT ? ?
Was it disconnected prematurely ? ?How is it reported in Disk Management ? ?

no nothing was reported...

Was it disconnected prematurely ? ?

i may have done that

i keep unplugging and putting it in again but nothing opens.....
it there a way to recover the files? from recovering programs perhaps?
To get to disk management right clik My Computer...SELECT Manage...then Disk Management...
Right clik the drive in there and select Properties...
Report back.i did that it it says THIS UNIT DOESN'T WORK...or something like that....
i guess i have to take it in for service to some place...do i?So it would seem. Sorry. Quote from: mandosetdaram on April 05, 2011, 09:00:50 AM

I've never SEEN that error report in Disk Management...this is so weird now i asked a friend to plug in her external hard drive and she couldnt open her drive either.
Also after a while both of ours HD were opening but nothing was on it.
Can someone explain this?
Now both of our HD´s has the same problem. weird.
We also tried with a 3rd pc and the same issue was there.
Let me guess...your using the front USB hubs on this machine...yes patio...do you think that is creating the problem? what shall i do than?Use the ones on the back.Go to Device Manager.
Remove the yellow exclamation mark which designates the device.
Restart the system.
The disc is recognized.
If it still does not work, try a manual installation: specifies the file directory C: Windowsinf and click Next to end the search for drivers
(Sometimes you have to do this several times handling, or try to reinstall the drivers insert the Windows XP SP2 CD). try this if you get some solution.now something weird is happing this morning,

the hard drive is opening and it ,scalled NEW VOLUME instead of the name i had written for the external hard drive.
When i open this NEW VOLUME the only file i see inside is NERO AUTOBACK??
WHATTTTT?
why is Nero autoback inside?
than inside Nero autoback we have D
inside D we have PRELOUD, SOURCES, TOOLS, WINDOWS...

i dont understand what is this?? anyone knows THANKS A MILLION!!!!guys...i took the drive to a service place and they told me i can fix the problem myself..
.they told me to install a DATA RECOVERY program and restore all the data inside the drive....
because it had been formatted or something...
because i had removed the drive from my pc to another or something...
and today all day i was working on the recovery thing...and now ALL THE DATA is restored thank god...
wanted to write this in case anyone had the same problem like me this could be a good solution!!
thanks guys for taking your time to write for me and help me with advice!! What Data Recovery program did you use?
