Solve : I'm really getting homesick here...? |
|
Answer» after reading a bunch of posts on the forum, I get the impression that there are quite a few people here that live in the Portland, OR area. I moved to Hillsboro 11 years ago and moved to Shanghai China in Feb. of '06. My older kids still live in our house (housesitting until we get back home, bless their little HEARTS) and sometimes I sure could use an Arby's beef & chedder or a real Pepsi.... I suppose it could be worse, I could be without internet.Wow!Rose B. Way over there.I know the homesick feeling. I'll think about you (whoever you are) when I eat my next beef & cheddar.... ok? Dare I hope that you're going to have a Pepsi with that??? We're just at the tail end of typhoon season here, had a few good storms but none of them were very strong by the time they reached us. It's starting to cool down now THANK goodness! Summers are very hot and VERY humid here!I live in Wilsonville, about 30-40 miles out of Portland. Not exactly my neighbor, but oh well... Lucky you, though, to live so close to Frye's. It is in Wilsonville, right?I LOVE FRY'S!!!!!!!! I could spend a whole day in that store! I've only been there a few times though, since I live a few miles south in Lebanon. Can you tell us what you're doing in China? How much longer do you expect to be there?Quote from: soybean on October 16, 2007, 12:04:41 PM Can you tell us what you're doing in China? How much longer do you expect to be there? My husband works for Nike and they've transferred him here to Shanghai to help set up a manufacturing PLANT for shoes. He is involved in producing the air bags for them. He's signed a 3 year contract that started in Feb. '06. He's telling me now that he'll probably sign up for an additional 2 years, which is fine with me. This place kind of grows on you. Welcome to CH Rose...Quote from: michaewlewis on October 15, 2007, 03:49:24 PM The rainy season just started over here in oregon.... Don't know what the weather is like in china, but when I was in Idaho for a year, where it doesn't rain at all, I started missing oregon winters. WOW you live in Oregon , do you know where coos bay is? When does it snow in Oregon? My friend lives somewhere around coos bay , I think i'll be there too in a few years , so im really interested in that place.Yep, Oregon is definitely the place to be. I like to live on the coast personally. Who doesn't love to go to the beach? Anyways...IVY, it doesn't snow everywhere here but some places it seems like it does nothing but snow! So you are going to come visit a friend here in Oregon? That's cool, we should all get together and I could show you guys the sites. -JDanThe only place it snows in oregon is up in the mountains.... It kinda sucks, because I actually grew up in the midwest and was used to getting 40" of snow a year and then I moved to oregon and there's nothing but rain. But the rain is okay. I've gotten used to it Quote from: JDan on October 17, 2007, 02:01:31 PM Anyways...Ivy, it doesn't snow everywhere here but some places it seems like it does nothing but snow! Quote from: michaewlewis on October 17, 2007, 02:10:12 PM The only place it snows in oregon is up in the mountains.... It snows at my place too but thats a 4 hours drive away fro my home (on the mountains), As a child even i was used to heavy snow fall but at the place i live now it never snows and rains a lot , DUSTY winds , i like the rain but i hate the winds(Dusty Winds )What really surprised us when we moved to Oregon was the lack of thunderstorms. I was born in the midwest too, and boy did we have some boomers! I really do like the lack of snow there as well. Coos Bay is pretty cool, but my favorite place is either Cannon Beach or Hug Point, a bit closer to home. When I get really homesick I get out my copy of The Goonies and watch that. |
