Solve : I need help, USB 2.0 not recognizing Adaptec Gamebrige?

Here's the problem.

I have installed a Nexxtech USB 2.0 Cardbus (N2PUCB) on my HP omnibook 6100 laptop, when I TRY to connect my Adaptec Gamebrige (1400) it actually shuts off the USB cardbus, I know that it's not either of them being broken persay, as I can use a USB key with GOOD results, and install the gamebridge on a friend's laptop. But I can't figure out why they won't mesh. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
