Answer»

For example, I press "Tab" key and it types out "A". I press "1" and it types out "1qz". Any help would be appreciated. Laptop, Desktop, Labelmaker?.....Sorry... - a laptopDo you have another keyboard that you can try....
Is the MACHINE under warranty? No its not under warranty and I do not have another keyboard to try. Here we go again. Give us the model number.
But if its a Sony, never mind. Its is hopeless.
It is a Gateway Solo Pro 9300. I tried cleaning the keys. It appears as though something sticky may have been spilled in it. I got most of the keys working properly by cleaning them with alcohol. I will keep trying by process of elimination, (unless you have another suggestion) ThanksDid you actually remove the keys one by one and clean them? If not, you may want to (carefully) do that. Use a key puller if you have one. If not, GENTLY pry each key up with a dull knife while the machine is OFF and clean everything that way. Be careful not to break anything as you remove or replace the keys (to replace, just insert the key into the slot and firmly DEPRESS straight down).I did actually remove most of the keys one by one. I have a question though, the white piece that actually sits on the board - is this supposed to be GLUED down or not? Some are and some are not. Do I need to glue them down? And if so - what kind of glue? Also there are some keys above the rest of the keyboard (like an internet key & volume keys). Do they come off and if so - how do I get them off?

Thanks for your response.
RobinDON'T use alcohol on your laptop.

It can affect the circuits on the keyboard and anything else it comes into contact with. Your keyboard needs to be REPLACED.
