Solve : I replaced my Toshiba hard drive. Now I need a bit of help!?

Answer»

Hi!    My Toshiba hd had bad sectors and I had to replace it.     In hind site I should have done this a while ago!    My questions are:  1.)  The guy that replaced it said he backed up everything to my external hd.    I told him I had two files of pictures that were not in my pictures but only on my desktop.   I can't find them.    If they were not backed up, could the guy possibly recover them from my old hard DRIVE?  (He still has it.)   2.)   Can I somehow GET my Outlook emails and the files I had back from my old hd?   3.)  I want to make Google my homepage and can't seem to do it.    I have Windows 7.    Thanks for any help you can give me.    Those things may be possible depending on how damaged the old hard drive is. You should be asking the guy who has your old hard drive. Why hasn't he given it back to you? (It is your property)

What web browser are you using? if it is Internet Explorer 9, open the page you want to be your home page then do Tools, Internet Options, General tab, Home Page, click Use current button, click OK

I using Google Chrome.

I called the guy that fixed my computer today and am HOPEFULLY going to see him tomorrow.    I am just freaking out about those pictures that were in files on my desktop.    I needed to empty the CARD quickly and just put them there and my hd was in such a bad state that doing just about ANYTHING other than FB was so slow that I decided to just leave them there.     Would you think that the pictures could be on the old hd?   (Not that it matters but they are my son's deployment pictures so I really want to have them.)    Thanks for your help.    Quote from: Julie S. on May 29, 2012, 04:32:38 PM

If they were there before, they might be recoverable, they might not, I can't tell. The guy with the disk is the ONE who can find this out for you.
