Solve : I think my motherboard took some static?

Answer»

My system is a Dell INSPIRON 1300 laptop and it's about 3 years old. They don't sell them any more. I recently installed a new operating system on it, XP Ultimate edition, and it worked fine. I took it apart and was very careful with it, but we all make MISTAKES. The BIOS doesn't start when i turn it on. No beeps no screen activity. Just a light that confirms that the power is on.

Is there any way to fix this? i can't afford a new computer. Why did you take it apart? Over looking the why for the moment. It COULD be a power supply issue, if you can get your hands on ANOTHER PSU and PLUMB it in then it's a quick tell. I would try resetting the BIOS before going to the trouble though.Quote

We're dealing with a laptop here. I believe you were thinking desktop. It is very possible...but i would ensure all the connections are tight and in the right places.

I know especially with laptops, the RAM slots can be a real pain when it comes to seating them properly when they want to be.
