Solve : Ice Cream On Laptop?

Answer»

Hi everyone thx for your help.

Here's the problem: I got a client who spilled Ice Cream on his laptop...
It went under the keyboard, on the motherboard and now the laptop doesn't open. I got a green light for the POWER. But When I press the powerOn button... nothing happens.

I would like to know a product that can dissolve the "Ice Cream", without even more the motherboard....

2- It there any liquid that I can soak the motherboar in and take it out with no "Ice Cream" but with a working MB ?

Thx again for your time.

Doesn't open?!

To be fair, it looks like it's a new lappy for the chappy.

There's probably going to be a good few short circuited circuits on that bad Mobo.

Hopefully you should still be able to recover the data by swapping the HDD out...ACTUALLY the whole point of this topic it's to repair the mobo.

But thx anyways...
anyone have a suggestion? You could use alcohol. One cloth with a very light touch of alcohol, and a second to quickly wipe it off.

Most likely though, Sid is right.Wow.
Ice cream.
If it were me, I would just try to salvage the hard drive. I agree with Sid.
Good LUCK. I'd be interested in knowing how you make out with it.i would definitely agree with the other guys, it's gone

however i would just rip it open(any way possible) and try to salvage the hard drive to sell or to eat...

just kidding, please don't eat it...Quote from: electricmidget on January 10, 2008, 08:02:57 PM

ILMAOI think I will try with alcohol, see what happen... Alcohol is volatile so I just might take the ice cream out, with all shorts...

Better then throw out the whole thing away If you're very careful, disconnect power and the battery, and use very minute amounts of alcohol on a rag, it should be fine. Give it plenty of time to DRY as well. However, the damage may have already been done, especially SINCE it has been plugged and and attempted to turn on with the ice cream in it.Quote from: fryser_d on January 10, 2008, 09:21:34 AM

Miracle cream. If you can't find that, just purchase a new laptop.
