Solve : IDE HDD Generic Question?

Answer»

original problem was that they had two drives, a bootable XP install on an IDE DRIVE, and another IDE drive. their problem is it isn't booting from the second IDE drive, and ALWAYS boots to the first IDE, no matter what they do to the boot order.

Well, surprise surprise, the new drive is unbootable. so regardless of wether it appears first in the boot order, the computer won't be able to boot from it and will move down the list to the next one, EVENTUALLY hitting the bootable IDE drive and proceeding to boot from it. Solution? Install an OS on the drive to boot from, by using a windows CD or other OS install solution.

So you can claim to boot from a device that does not have an OS on it?

In that CASE I can boot from my MOUSE.

I booted my computer with my foot once.If you put toothpaste on the drive it will be bootable.Quote from: patio on December 25, 2008, 09:37:23 AM
If you put toothpaste on the drive it will be bootable.

And if it doesn't, it'll at least smell nice which is nearly as useful as booting from an empty hard drive.
