What OS do you have?
Try updating your drivers.
Download new drivers, do not install them.
Uninstall old drivers.
Reboot.
Install new drivers.
Reboot.

And then clean your PC too, using this document as a guide. This could be a number of things, so i'll list below a few of the things.

(1) Heat problem, clean computer of dust and make sure all fans working.
(2) Spyware, get a spyware program and run it. Google for Ad aware its free.
(3) Defrag your hard drive.
(4) Disable sound card to just see if that fixes it.

Has your windows OS also started running slower? When was the last time you did a windows reinstall?I have cleaned out my pc from top to bottom I blew a fan last week and am getting system fail cpu test, but my pc is still fully operatinal.

As for spyware and stuff I run Ad-adware once every 2 weeks.

I defrag my system once a month.. sometimes twice.

Disable sound card to just see if that fixes it. <--- i'm not all 100% sure what you mean by that, and what good it may do??

My OS btw has started to slow down a bit lol thought it was just having an old pc..

Thanks guys for your help your awesome, I will probley just tell my feind who has BUILT it ahd repaired it when ever i have had problems... It might just need to be reformated and up to..

It's just what good is that if i plan to get a newer system in a few months? Quote from: Super D on June 14, 2007, 11:43:53 PM

Sometimes certain sounds in a game can cause the game to lag. I used to play a game called ofp and found whenever i shot at someone the sound of the riffle lagged my game up. I disabled sound and realised it was my sound card. So i bought a different brand and all worked well. After a week i swapped my old sound card back in just to make sure it was the old card and the lagg was back.

I know the old computers with onboard sound sucked and also some of the soundcards. Not saying this is your problem, but its worth a shot worked for me once. Like i say, you can do this quick test by just disabling the card in device manager. If it doesn't work just enable it again.
