If you think it is the RAM you can download and run Memtest86 (free at www.memtest.org) Check each stick for an hour or two individually, then all together. You will know right away if the RAM is the problem. This download makes a bootable CD that doesn't EVEN require Windows. You can download diagnostic software free from your drive manufacturer's site as well. So far your repair bill is $0.00 ill try to list all the hardware and everything as for going to start and running chkdsk i cant because it wont load desktop icons or anything. All it shows is the desktop picture and the mouse arrow lol Im using Windows Xp Home edition and the computer is about a 2 year old Emachine i think you can google the model if not ill try to get back and list all the specs Model: Emachines D6417 (i would list hardware specs but im short on time on my school comp) I just really hope its not the mother board going out because... yea lolIt's really up to you to post the hardware, not for us to go root it out.
