Solve : inspiron 6000 shows 4 screens on laptop but on video out it is fine?

Hello, Sorry if this post TWICE but I SEE 4 screens within one.
I have updated the BIOS and formatted and re-installed XP Home
Nothing seem to make a difference. When I plug in an EXTERNAL monitor it is fine but on the LCD it is still 4 screens . Attached is a poor quality picture but you will get the idea.

None, it is a fresh install of XP Home with the drive reformatted.
It doesn't happen all the time but more often than not these days.
