Solve : installing an AM2 cpu on an A13G+ motherboard help?

Answer»

I did a search and found nothing but I'm not sure how to word my questions.

I have a pcchips motherboard A13G+ version 3.0.  It has an AM2 socket.  I put an
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ cpu in it.  It seems as though I have no power to the cpu.  My question is do I need to plug in power to the PWR2 plug?  It says it is a +12v for CPU Vcore power.  If not do I need to plug in the extra four pin plug to the rest of the PWR1 connector? I have checked the cmos jumper and it is ok.Both actually if I'm not mistaken.
If your PSU only have a 20 pin main connector you need to plug in an extra 4 pin connector and the PWR2 plug also need a 4 pin connector.Yahooooo.  that was it.  I just tried it and you were right.  I am now at the bios settings. This is my first computer build.  Thank you for your fast reply and steely eyed computer savy. .  The manual that came with the motherboard nor the more detailed one on a cd rom made any mention of either plug being needed. Without these forums I would probably spend a day on the phone.Actually with PCChips you'ld have been lucky if the phone was answered...I'm glad to hear you got it working and congratulation on your first build.

ya, even their web site is full of holes.  they dont have much support SET up.I'm like a kid in a candy store. I'm 70% done installing XP on an AMD 64 3500+, 1GB memory(so far), nvidia MCP61 chipset, 360GB western digital HD, memorex LIGHT scribe dual layer DVD burner.  The AG13+ mother board can handle 16GB memory supposedly(only tested to 4GB), I'll probably never get past 2GB ram.  The motherboard has a PCI express x1 slot, a PCI express Pro slot for GRAPHICS interface, 2 serial ATA connectors, an Azalia CNR slot(what the heck is that for?) and more. My old AMD 1.4GHZ has served me well and is getting on eight years old. About a year and a half ago it was rebooting after about every half hour.  I had four capacitors around the CPU that had leaked and were poof open on the top.  I was able to get four caps from the local electronics shop and replace them and it has been fine ever since.  That after I spent two months TROUBLE shooting software and I\O. LOL.
