Solve : installing an internal floppy disk drive? |
|
Answer» I am trying to install an internal floppy disk drive into my Hp Pavilion 1203 with WINDOWS XP, I have all the cables that I thought were right connected but I have not light on the disk drive( light under the slot) when I insert a disk, it is on my list of usable drives. I inserted a disk and restarted my system and it does not stop to tell me to REMOVE the disk, so I know I am missing something but don't know enought about the internal workings to figure which cable I am missing. PLEASE help Heather Shaw....... there should be two cables connected to the floppy drive ......one is probably a flat ribbon cable and the other one is a 4 pin power connector ......do you have that one plugged in ? dl65 Yep, I have tried an extra one (power 4 pin cable) from my CD drive that I have tried and a extra one from my cpu. still nothing, also the floppy drive does work in my old computer.Try turning that larger cable end upside down...does the light on the floppy stay on? ? If so the connector is backwards. If the light is not on all the time then it is connected properly. At that point you will need to enter the BIOS and check the settings for the floppy drive. patio. 8_ |
