Answer» I WIPED MY HARD DRIVE CLEAN AND REINSTALLED WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL ON MY ACER TRAVEL MATE 2480-2968. I DON'T HAVE A DRIVER CD SO I HAVE TO BE DOWNLOADING THE DRIVERS FROM THE ACER WEBSITE. WHEN I DOWNLOADED THE ETHERNET/LAN DRIVERS I NOTICED THAT IT DOES NOT CONTAIN A SETUP FILE. SO I DON'T KNOW HOW TO INSTALL IT. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS.
HOW DO YOU INSTALL A DRIVER WITHOUT A SETUP FILE?
Well first dont write such a long post keep it short and simple u need to call geek squadGEEKSQUAD? WHO OR WHAT IS GEEKSQUAD? Best buy? Circuit city? they know it all*censored* no. Stay away from the idiots at Geeksquad.
To install your new driver follow these steps:
Right click on My Computer, click Properties, Click on the Hardware tab, click on Device Manager, Now find your Network Card, it probably has a big Yellow Exclamation point on it. Right click on it and click Update Driver, SELECT "Install from a specific Location" and browse to the folder where you unpacked the driver you downloaded. It should have a .INF file in it. Select that file and click ok. Then click next. Windows should then install your driver and all should be well. Let me know if you have any trouble.
And ignore KnowITAll. The GUY is clearly a moron and shouldn't be posting here. Geeksquad? For CRYING out loud....I tried what you said emperor and it worked perfectly. THANKS alot, now i can get some sleep.
