Solve : Installing new video card? |
|
Answer» I'm running XP on a HP Pavilion a1267c, and it has onboard graphics w/shared memory (1Gb installed). I just purchased a DIABLO Tek Radeon x700/512mb/PCI Express card for it, and I would like to know if I install the card in the PCI-E slot will Windows automatically recognize it and disable the onboard video. Also, the memory will no longer be shared with this new card, right?Usually the onboard video is disabled automatically. If not for some reason then this can be done in the BIOS. WHen this is disabled the video RAM will be used by the main system so things may move a little faster. Be SURE your power supply is up for the CHALLENGE and watch for OVERHEATING issues with that bad BOY! |
