Answer» Ok intel has got me confused, I am using their compatibility tool and it says that a Core 2 duo E4700 is COMPATIBLE with all AA's of an Intel D945gcl motherboard. But when I look up the E4700, my AA# is not listed. Will it work or not is my QUESTION?
I am basically TRYING to speed my system up as far as it can go.
My motherboard is a D945GCL AAD82064-200 I KNOW some people just call them main boards, but it is an old habit. SorryAccording to this, all revisions of the D945GCL are compatible with the E4700.
http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d945gclThanks JJ3000, yeh that is the place where it said they are compatible. But when I cross-checked the Processor and it's compatible boards MINE did not show up, that is where my confusion lies. I just don't know if they only list the boards still be manufactured or what, but maybe I should just go ahead and try, I just don't want to fry my main board. I went ahead and bought the cpu and it did work. I also found a bios update for my main board here.
