Get a cheap black mousepad, they're at Wal-Mart for about 99 cents. It helps immensely.You're much more likely to get this kind of a problem with optical mice than with roller ball mice. Dirt can be the culprit.Failing batteries in powered mice is the major cause of this problem.i had this problem too with a ball mouse it was working fine for a long time. thry the mouse that isn't working on another computer. if it still doesn't WORK its PROBABLY BUSTED and just buy a new one
