Solve : Internal harddrive trouble installing? |
|
Answer» Okay here's the deal... i BOUGHT an internal harddrive thinking it was an external one. I can't return it. I want to try to use it but when I opened my computer (something I am not completely new at but don't know EVERYTHING) to install it I hit a problem. I guess the harddrive is a bit outdated and requires a "40 - pin, 80-conductor IDE interface cable". I know what this is but my computer which is basically brand new (less than a year old) does not use a 40 - pin, 80-conductor IDE interface cable. I want to know if there is some sort of converter or way I can use this harddrive; I don't know what the new IDE connecting cable is called for the new computer so I am not sure what to BUY a converter for. The computer I have is running windows 7 and has a Pentium Dual-core CPU E5300 @ 2.60 GHz 2.60 GHz processor. It is an HP. The model is 'HP Pavilion p6110y Desktop PC - NY429AA'. The harddrive is a Western Digital EIDE Hard Drive. it says WD2500JB WD Caviar HD. You should look for an EIDE to SATA converter. Ebay probably has more than a few on sale. Check with your local electronics/computer store, they might carry them. |
