Answer» Hi everyone! My Seagate 3Tb HDD makes a WEIRD noise whenever I turn on and plug in. It does that noise until it finally stops. It stays open but the drive is not spinning anymore. Here is a sample of the noise. It goes on like for about a minute. Is there a way to acces data since it is not showing or being detected by any devices nor programs. I have all my datas saved on it like travel pictures, documents, MUSIC, etc. What do you think? https://youtu.be/GLq6SsQR9c0Hi
When a hard drive makes that noise it has a damaged head or heads. As it is a 3 TB it is likely to have 6 heads which REQUIRE a special tool to replace. You need a company like Kroll Ontrack or Drive Savers who have the tools and a good selection of DONOR heads. It is not something you can fix yourself and any attempts could make the SITUATION worse.
