Answer» My onboard NIC sucks! It is only 10/100 onboard and the worse part, not fully reliable. I will want to upgrade to a Intel PRO 1000/MT. It's only $15 online on ebay and supports GIGABIT.That NIC seems to need PCI-X which isn't found on MANY motherboards. If your motherboard has the correct slot - Yes it is a fantastic card but I don't think that it will be compatable. Personally I have a Sitecom Gigabit card and I can't fault it. I even bought another two to put in my server. To see if it is compatable - look at your motherboard for a PCI-X slot (The 2 LONGER white slots in this picture) the Inspiron 530 definitely does NOT have a PCI-X slot; it PROBABLY has PCI and PCI-E slots, however. I know the inspiron 530 does not have PCI X slots. I am talking about the desktop non PCI X version.
