Solve : issue with sounds on PC?

Answer»

Hi,

I was wondering if I could get a BIT of help here.

A friend of mine has a bit of problem with his PC. The problem is when he PLAYS a certain game, he does not get any sounds coming out of the speakers. However, he claims that there is nothing wrong with the speakers because he does get the sounds when playing musics or when windows get loaded up. It's just this particular game that he does not hear any sounds at all. He TOLD me that he had the hard drive on this PC reformatted the other day because it's got some viruses. The game was working fine with sounds on the same PC. He's been having this sound issue since he had the hard drive reformatted and re-load the windows XP Pro and all the other programs.

The same game installed on a laptop and it works well. He can hear the sounds of the game from the laptop. He still has the motherboard CD with him. I was thinking of re-INSTALLING all the driver from the motherboard CD. Are there anything else I can try to troubleshoot this problem?

I believe he uses the XP Pro on the PC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Instead of installing the drivers, try reinstalling the game itself. Or double-check the device manager and volume settings or output for that particular game.
