Answer» at the middle of my screen, my picture is 'divided' in two parts. the top HALF is slightly darker than the bottom, and everything on the top half is streched long, while everything on the bottom is scrunched. i have updated the DRIVERS for both my monitor and my video card and have been having the same problem when i connect the monitor to a different computer. the bottom of the picture also shakes, but just the very bottom of the screen. i'm wondering if it is a moire effect, but my monitor does not have an adjustment setting for that. can anyone help me?
computer: emachine RUNNING winXP monitor: Sylvania S90 CRT video card: geforce 6100 display: 1280x1024 / 75Hz
note- changing the resolution/refresh rate has not helped How old is that monitor?
Does it have a degauss button or on-screen menu option to degauss? I'd look for that and try it.
That means it a shoping day oooo its a shopping day.
If its HP monitor its a shopping day for sure. Had trouble woth those 20times.yeah, saddly i think it may be time for a new one. this monitor is about 6 or 7 YEARS old i think. it does have a degauss feature, but it does not help either. i'm still hoping to find a 'cure' for my poor dying monitor, after all, it is a really nice monitor (for a crt, it's been the best).
it does have a menu and all that, just no moire adjustment. Dont buy HP at all. I replaced mine 20 timesIf your monitor is that old, then it's most likely time for a new one. You could probably take your monitor in somewhere to have it repaired, but it might not worth the price. But it wouldn't hurt to call a few places and see if you can get a free (or at least cheap) estimate.Give some thought to making the change to LCD.i do WANT to get a nice lcd, but that's the thing, i don't have the money yet
i'm sure it would be more costly to have it repaired than to just replace it. i may as well buy a new computer too, emachines aren't exactly top-of-the-line..............
thanks anyways, everyoneYou might look for used CRT. In my area, I know a place that sells some used ones very cheap. I also belong to a computer users group that collects used equipment and makes it available to about anyone; they ask for a small donation, although it's not required. Take a look in the classified ads, too. Quote from: soybean on June 25, 2007, 09:33:08 PM Take a look in the classified ads, too. That's a good starting point. Do you have PennySaver in your area, Namico?yeah that's a big 10-4. i was initially hoping to -fix- my crt, but i'm giving up on it now, lol. the pennysaver is a great opition to find tons of stuff.
ima just get me a new computer system, that way i can get everything i want without costing so much (at least not as much in the long run). If you retrieve monitors from tree lawns on garbage night be warned...only every 4th one will fire up...
