Given :

the two ADJACENT angles on a straight line are in the RATIO 5:4.

Solution :

we can multiply the ratio with the same variable.

Then the angles are given by, 5X and 4x.

\rightarrowIt is given that these angles are adjacent angles on a straight line. so, they form a linear PAIR.

we know that linear pair are supplementary and have same equal to 180°

\sf \rightarrow5x + 4x = 180 \degree

\sf \:  \rightarrow9x = 180 \degree

\rightarrow \sf \: x =  \frac{180 \degree}{9}

\sf \rightarrow \:  \: x = 20 \degree

Now, we have x as 20°

Then the angles are,

\rightarrow \sf5x = 5 \times 20 \degree = 100 \degree

\rightarrow\sf \: 4x = 4 \times 20 \degree = 80 \degree

\thereforeThe REQUIRED measure of angle is 80°.
