Answer» I am trying to add a slave hard drive to a desktop that I have. Normally I can figure out which pins to put the jumper on. I recently picked up an OLDER compaq and removed the hard drive, I am going to install it as a slave in one of my working machines. The jumper config is a little confusing to me. I was hoping someone could shed some LIGHT on the subject. The hard drive is a Western Digital and has 5 rows of pins. The FIRST row has only one pin. then there are 4 more rows of two. The instructions on the hard drive read. single: 1 to 2 7 to 8 master: 5 to 6 7 to 8 slave: 1 to 2 3 to 4 cable select: 1 to 2 5 to 6 See if this will help ......... if you need info for SATA drive and things look different - go to WD website and dig - that's where I grabbed this PIC ......
