Solve : Keyboard, Mouse, Printer and monitor all not working?

Answer»

OMG please help me This morning I came out to my computer and my monitor was in energy saver mode ( Normal) so i went to roll the mouse and my monitor did not show a screen. I then noticed that i had no keyboard or mouse lights on or my printer.

I shut down replugged all in and still nothing, I also borrowed a friends, monitor, mouse and keyboard, and they don't work either. People have been giving me different ideas yet none are working. One was to try and put the windows CD in and go from there, well.. I cant see my screen and my keyboard is not working so i am very frustrated. If anyone has any ideas i would really appreciate it!!TELL us more about your computer. Make and model, how old, any hardware changes lately? Any symptoms lately of abnormal behavior? Any lights at all showing on front or back of the computer when you try to turn it on? Any SOUNDS, beeps, or sound of fans or hard drive running?

Do you normally leave it on all night? Do you have it connected to a surge protector? Any electrical storms or power interruptions lately that you know of?

Have you tried plugging into a different outlet? Is anything else currently plugged into the same outlet as the computer or surge protector to which the computer is connected? If not, try plugging something else into that outlet and verify that it works.Well this computer was a build not a store bought one.. I have had it about 6 years... Nothing abnormal has HAPPENED prior to this, all my fans work everything else works, it is plugged into a surge protector and everything else on that surge protector is working. No storms or anything unusual at all.

I do normally leave it on all night yes, and no unusual beeps, it sounds as if it is booting up with no problems.

When i turn it on the normal green light appears on the tower and my monitor light stays red instead of green.

There have been no hardware changes at all or any changes for that matter. So, you see absolutely nothing on screen from the moment you press the power button to turn it on, right?

When you say "everything else works", what do you mean? Will your CD/DVD drive tray open? What all "works"?

Have you ever replaced the power supply in your computer since it was built?Correct I see aboslutely nothing....

And I mean everything else works as in Speakers, the cd drive and dvd drive, everything but the aforementioned. I have NEVER replaced the power supply actually i have never had to REPLACE anything on it.

When it was first built i remember a battery had to be replaced ( it was the size of a quarter)What OS are you running? When your computer starts up, do you need to login to a user account before using your computer? If not, i.e. no login needed, can you put a music CD in your computer and see whether it starts playing (assuming that's what would normally happen)? If not, then how do you know your speakers are working when you turn on your computer? I got the same problem as him/her, although i don't know whether my speaker is working. It's a window xp, i have been using this comp for 3 years. It was fine until this morning. The monitor, mouse and keyboard lights are not on, but my pc is still running. the fans and everything are running.Quote from: catiazz on August 02, 2008, 09:04:25 PM

It would be best to start a new Topic including much more info on the machine in question....
Someone will be along shortly...
